reading with a cup of tea is my cure-all
oftentimes I find myself getting really stressed out about all the things going on in my life. sometimes I have school assignments just piling on top of each other; the workload often feels endless! when this happens, there is nothing I value more than my little home library to which I can turn to drown myself in the sweet embrace of fiction. I've been reading Miaojin Qiu's novel, Notes of a Crocodile, for the past month or so. I found it in a little local bookstore while I was walking home from classes. it was such chilly day, part of me only went inside to get away from the cold for a bit! this novel has captured my heart. I won't spoil anything (I haven't finished it yet). It's a queer novel centred around a lesbian girl living in Taiwan, and her relationships with those around her. I get the feeling that it's at least semi-autobiographical. sadly the lovely author isn't with us anymore, but she was kind enough to write one more novel after the one I'm reading; I'm waiting to receive that one in the mail). her style is so raw and relatable, I can't wait to read more. I'm gonna make some tea and read! bye empty void!
